Grow Your Own Tradition

Following a hugely enjoyable pilot project earlier this year (2011) we return to the Drama Centre with another series of workshops this autumn.

The new workshops will be aimed at Grade 4 and above, roughly speaking those who have been playing their instruments for three or four years.

Others welcome to attend and we may be able to offer some support outside the lessons but the sessions will be be aimed at developing ensemble playing, together with an understanding of expression and style, which can’t be done without a certain familiarity with the instrument.

These workshops have been developed in partnership with Helen Wilding-Smith, Powys Music Co-ordinator as part of Powys County Council’s Children and Young People’s Music Strategy which was launched last year. This is part of TASC's Grow Your Own Tradition Project which is supported by the Arts Council of Wales and Powys County Council.

TASC have been holding inter-generational and young people's workshops for some time. ABOVE: the line-up for a Ceilidh as part of Rhayader Carnival, 2004.
