Telling Tales

MAY 2016

During May 2016 we held a series of storytelling workshops with Amy Douglas in the Dragon in Montgomery to learn some of the skills and tricks of traditional storytellers.

Following that we held a storyelling picnic at Montgomery castle.

This was a wonderful event - many many thanks to AMY DOUGLAS for leading it and to Claire Weston and Monty Folk for such wholehearted support.

Download Amy's Storytelling Information Sheet for a list of resources - clubs, publications, websites etc.

Arvon Ales in Llandrindod Wells has been one of the brightest spots for traditional music in Mid Wales during 2016.

We're not saying its success owes anything to TASC, but we do say that we were pleased to take advantage of a wonderful venue which allowed us to host some wonderful workshops. In April Karen Tweed held workshop on playing in sessions (before going on to hold a splendid band workshop for Monty Folk)

Then in autumn we held three Sessions for the Hesitant on sesson (Rees Wesson,) on song (with Susie Stockton-Link) and a catch-all with Pete Damsell and Philip Freeman.

We followed that up with a Christmas Folk Session to say thank you to John and Laura for hosting our session s throughout the year.

Elsewhere during the year we had a fabulous Dipper Malkin concert in Montgomery, followed by a workshop in Bettws Cedwain.

Behind the scenes we worked with Lisa Sture to try and help research into the Step Dance traditions of Dartmoor.
